Massachusetts police arrest man who allegedly shot pregnant woman at pond
A 37-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a pregnant woman at a pond, according to police.
Maine man Anthony Delman has been charged in connection with last week’s shooting at Sampson Pond in Carver. He has also been in custody in connection with a shooting on the Cape from the same night.
A 28-year-old pregnant woman last Wednesday evening went to the Carver police station to report that she had been shot in the leg at Sampson Pond.
She was taken by Carver EMS to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following an investigation, Delman was identified as the suspect, and a warrant was sought in Wareham District Court for his arrest.
Delman, who’s in custody for a shooting in Dennis later that night, will be arraigned in Wareham District Court for the shooting in Plymouth County.
“This case was an excellent example of good, solid police work and cooperation between agencies, which has resulted in the arrest of a violent person willing to shoot a pregnant woman,” Carver Police Chief Marc Duphily said in a statement.
Carver Police last week said they believed the shooting was not random.
Later that same night, Delman allegedly shot a relative in Dennis. Police responded to a report of a “loud bang followed by a male party crying and limping” in a parking lot on Rt. 134 in South Dennis.
The victim had been shot in the leg, and he was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Police determined that the shooting was intentional, and the male party was shot by a relative.
A day later, Dennis Police detectives arrested Delman. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and firearms violation with two prior violent/drug crimes.
